1. Are there more scenes to choose from?

With the Designer Digital option the choices are virtually unlimited!

You can select from some (not all) of the hundreds of scenes available at dreamstime.com. (There are additional royalty and production costs for these selections.) We can also produce scenes from your own photos, but you must supply us with very high resolution digital images. Otherwise the scene will be pixilated (blurred). The price is about 2.5 times higher than Standard Digital images. For more information about this option please call Milt Bryan (303) 669-8237.

 2. What are the differences between Silkscreen, Bulk Digital and Designer Digital scenes?

VOLUME PRODUCTION

Other than the obvious difference of cost, the primary difference is in the method and volume of production. Silkscreen and Bulk Digital scenes are printed in larger volume, making  a less expensive product  with fewer choices and in fewer sizes. The  flexibility of Standard Digital and Designer Digital options, in which scenes are printed one-at-a-time, provides a much larger selection of scenes and sizes.

MATERIAL THICKNESS

Silkscreen and Bulk Digital scenes are printed primarily on .020" polystyrene or similar surface. The Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes are printed on polystyrene which is .030" thick. This makes these scenes more rigid and a little easier to install. We are aware of no other effect of this difference.

SIZES

The Silkscreen scenes are in one size (60" X 100").  All Bulk Digital scenes are available in 60" X 100" with some in 60" X 120". Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes are available in eight sizes ranging from 2 1/2' X 5' to 5' X 12 1/2'.

WARRANTIES

The warranty on the Silkscreen and Bulk Digital scenes is one year versus two years on Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes, which require a plastic window well cover in order for the warranty to be honored. We have had zero warranty claims for any of our products over the many years we have been in business.

4. Why are your scenes priced differently?

The scenes in our four Price Levels are produced differently . Silkscreen  and Bulk Digital scenes are produced in volume, but by the two different technologies. They are also printed on materials that are slightly thinner than our Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes. Our Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes are are also produced one-at-a-time. This is the primary reason they are more expensive. The Designer Digital Scenes also require the payment of additional royalty fees and the use of additional production time.

5. How do the scenes attach to the window well?

The Silkscreen and Bulk Digital scenes are attached with industrial-strength VELCRO. The installation kit includes an ample supply. The Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes use a combination of screws which the installer places near each corner by drilling a hole in the metal. This method also utilizes a single piece of heavy duty VELCRO which is positioned in the upper middle of the scene.

6. Can the scenes be installed in concrete window wells?

All scenes can be installed in concrete wells by drilling holes in the concrete with common vibrating drills. The installer inserts an anchor into the holes and places screws through the scene into the anchors.

7. What product warranties do the manufacturers provide?

Silkscreen and Bulk Digital scenes have a one-year warranty. Standard Digital and Designer Digital scenes have a two-year warranty and require the use of a plastic well cover for the warranty to be valid.

8. How long will the scenes last?

All scenes can be expected to last indefinitely when installed in the protected environment of a window well.

Polystyrene, like virtually all other plastic products, loses some of its plasticizer over time and becomes yellower and more brittle. This should not be a problem unless the scene is moved after it has been in place for some time. Exposure to a lot of sunlight will cause this drying out and yellowing process to occur more quickly, but the level of mostly indirect light in window wells is not expected to have a noticeable effect on either the color or brittleness of the scenes.

9. What is necessary to maintain the scenes?

Your liner should give you years and years of service with very little maintenance attention. It is printed on heavy plastic with waterproof and fade-resistant inks.

The plastic itself handles moisture and indirect sunlight just fine. Even some direct sunlight will not create a problem. However, this plastic material is not meant to handle constant direct sunlight. It will become brittle and yellow, so don't install it on your backyard fence!

The inks can be scratched, although not easily, so handle with care during installation and when cleaning.

If the scene becomes dirty with gritty soil, wash it down before you wipe it with a soft cloth.

If you're moving at a future date and want to take your scene with you, use extreme care in removing and reinstalling it, as all plastics lose their plasticizers gradually over time and can become more brittle.
